Following the successful 'Books born in Hastings', Moon Times is glad to be able to announce a fresh stock of books by local authors. These include a smashing photographic account of Hastings called Hastings Beautiful Town by Oliver Tookey. Also the popular 'My Wretched Alcoholism This Damn Puppeteer' - Brian Charles Harding, 'And Such Great Names As These' - Allen Makepeace, 'Six Spoons of Sugar' - Richard Holdsworth and 'Diamonds' - Hastings Writers Group.
I've read all bar one of those. Oliver Tookey's book is indeed beautiful, Brian's is painful to read but an essential education for anyone struggling with the consequences of child abuse, and it has a kind of beauty in the end - Brian Charles Harding is most definitely a survivor. 'And Such Great Names as These' is an enjoyable read and so is 'Diamonds', which among its treasures holds a rare appearance of Rosemary Bartholomew's prose writing. (She spends so much time organising and secretarying for other writers, one doesn't often get a reminder of her lovely writing style.)
